System Components

The off-grid system is basically the same as the grid-tied system with a battery backup, except it has another backup generator, and there is no utility kWh meter and electricity feed from the grid. The main part of the system is the same, electricity is still generated by the PV panels, then routed through the Array DC Disconnect, charge controller, battery bank, system meter, Main DC disconnect, Inverter and then the AC Breaker panel that disperses the electricity to the household loads. The additional backup generator feeds directly into the inverter, and can provide power during times where the panels cannot generate enough electricity, and the batter bank is almost depleted.
