System Components

This type of system is one of the more simple solar systems, and has fewer components than other systems. It consists of the photovoltaic panels, an Array DC disconnect, DC to AC inverter, and the standard AC breaker panel and kWh meter that are already in your house. The photovoltaic array is mounted outside to collect the sunlight, and provide the source of the electricity for the system. The AC disconnect is for isolating the solar array from the rest of the system for troubleshooting or maintenance. The Inverter makes the DC electricity that comes from the array into AC electricity, so it is able to be used in the household loads, as well as mesh with the utility grid.
