Grid-Tied w/ Battery BankSystem ComponentsThe system parts of a solar system are the same as that of a grid tied system, except for the battery bank and associated components added right after the Array DC Disconnect. The electricity still flows from the PV array to the Array DC Disconnect, but instead of going to the inverter, it usually goes through a charge controller, the battery bank, a system meter, and then to the inverter. The charge controller regulates the flow of electricity to the battery bank and prevents them from being overcharged, which lengthens their lifespan.
