Introduction

A grid-tied system with battery backup is basically the same system as the plain grid-tied system, except it has a battery bank and a few more components that allow that battery bank to work with the overall electric system in your house.

The battery bank provides electricity to the house in the event of a blackout, and can be a lifesaver for people who experience regular blackouts, or have critical electrical loads. It does add more components to the system, which costs more and decreases system efficiency.
