Solar panels provide DC electricity (direct current), which must be converted to AC (alternating current) to work with most household appliances, as well as tie in with the electric grid’s AC power. This is where an inverter comes in. It inverts the electricity from DC to AC, in a modified sine wave voltage to easily tie in to the electric grid’s power.
