These are components that simply disconnect the flow of electricity between certain parts of the system for maintenance or troubleshooting. An Array DC Disconnect is usually placed between the solar panels and the rest of the system to isolate them if need be. Another one, usually called a Main DC Disconnect, is usually placed between the batteries and inverter if a battery bank is used. This can also isolate parts of the system for maintenance or troubleshooting.
