DX Geothermal Costs

Horizontal Loop

A vertical loop for a DX system can be a very good option in situations where space is limited. A small pit is dug a few feet underground, and then a small boring machine drills holes vertically around the pit. Copper tubing is then inserted down the hole, and a thermally conductive grout is pumped into the hole for maximum heat transfer between the earth and the tubing.

This method is common in DX systems, and is popular because it is minimally invasive to landscaping, requires little land area, and is quick to install. It opens up new possibilities for a geothermal system, making this efficient heating system available to more people.
