This is one of the biggest advantages of a DX system, it’s small ground loop footprint. Because the refrigerant is cycled through the ground loop, it needs much less piping to get the same heat transfer as a standard geothermal ground loop that cycles water.

This means the system can be installed in more places, smaller places, all with much space invasion. No need for yards and landscaping to be completely torn up, and can be more easily installed in residential lots (location dependent).
