DX Geothermal Advantages

Cheaper Installation

In most cases, installing a DX Geothermal system is slightly cheaper than a conventional geothermal heat pump system. Most of this is because of the ground loop installation. Typical geothermal requires a large earth loop to be installed, which requires massive amounts of trenching, backfilling, and testing.

Instead of the large amount of trenching for a standard geothermal system, an angled, radial array of shorter holes (max of about 65 ft.) are drilled and then filled with copper tubing. This allows a directional boring machine to easily come in and drill all of the holes in a small pit that is dug a few feet below the ground. The process is cheaper, quicker, and less invasive than a standard geothermal system.
